Rusty

Rusty's ideal home
If you are ready to take on a cheeky, energetic, and utterly loveable companion, Rusty might just be the boy for you. At 8 months old, this Husky-Staffy cross is full of beans and bursting with potential. He is boisterous, bouncy, and not always the most polite, so needs owners who have an interest in training and are happy to work on his manners, he will repay you tenfold in love, laughs, and loyalty.
Rusty could live with confident children, including those under five, provided his rough-and-tumble play style does not overwhelm them. He may also be able to live with another dog, though they would need to tolerate or match his lively energy. A home without cats is essential. He must be kept on lead in public while his recall and doggy social skills continue to develop, and his new home will need to build up his alone time gradually, as he is still learning to be comfortable on his own.
Could you be Rusty's perfect match?
Rusty is a people-loving whirlwind of fun who already knows a few tricks—like sit and paw—and is crate trained too. He is super food motivated, which makes him a great candidate for training. He will thrive in an active home that can offer both physical exercise and mental stimulation to help channel his zest for life. He has been described as great with kids, loves fuss, and is more than happy to explore new environments. While he can be mouthy and will grab at his lead when over-excited, he responds well to positive reinforcement and is eager to learn.
Rusty enjoys his toys, shares well with familiar dogs, and is housetrained—though if left for too long, accidents can happen. He is still getting used to travelling (he needs a little boost into the car sometimes),and he can find loud noises a bit worrying. He walks well on lead.
Rusty is a brilliant pup who just needs the right people to help shape him into the superstar he is destined to be. If you are looking for a fun-loving sidekick to join you on life’s adventures, and do not mind a bit of chaos along the way, Rusty is ready and waiting!
This dog is currently being rehomed under our Home Stay scheme. Under this scheme, the dog stays with their current owner until the point of adoption, when ownership transfers briefly to Dogs Trust and then to the new adopters. The benefits of Home Stay for a dog are that it minimises disruption and prevents the dog having to come into kennels, however there is the potential the owner may pull out of the scheme prior to adoption. We understand the upset this may cause to potential adopters, and we work closely with owners to minimise the likelihood of this. However, it remains a possibility, and should this occur, Dogs Trust will prioritise finding adopters an alternative suitable dog.
